The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Office of Cultural, Historical and Information Programs in the Florida Department of State is comprised of the Divisions of Library and Information Services; Historical Resources; and Cultural Affairs.
Summary:     This series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence providing a broad overview of the functions and responsibilities of the Office of Cultural, Historical and Information Programs (OCHIP) of the Department of State. The files were maintained by Deputy Secretary JuDee Pettijohn Dawkins and touch on areas such as proper management of historical and archaeological sites and artifacts, archival research, and planning for historical observances such as the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon's arrival at and naming of La Florida.  Included are files labeled "JuDee RF" documenting matters handled internally within OCHIP; files labeled "SOS RF" documenting matters requiring review, response, or action by the Secretary of State; and files labeled "Gov RF" or "Gov Office RF" documenting issues referred to OCHIP or requiring review, response, or action by the Governor's Office.
