Biographical/Historical:     Patrick Willam Doyle (1941-2021) was born in DeLand, Florida, the youngest of James Valentine Doyle Sr. and Nora Cecilia Colleran Doyle's 10 children. Doyle graduated from DeLand High School in 1959 and earned a bachelor's degree from George Washington University in 1963. After graduating from the College of Law at the University of Florida, he enlisted into the United States Army and served as First Lieutenant.

    Doyle began his law practice in 1970 in Winter Park, Florida, where he was a partner of Murrah, Doyle & Wigle PA where he practiced for nearly 50 years. While living in Winter Park, Doyle co-founded the College Quarter Neighborhood Association near Rollins College to help preserve the charm and character of the area where he lived for most of his life. He also volunteered as the association's vice-president for many years. His love of books and Florida history inspired his published article in the Florida Historical Quarterly (vol. 78, #2, fall 1999).

Summary:     This collection consists of a variety of Floridiana collected by Patrick W. Doyle. The collection includes correspondence and envelopes, photographs, and other miscellany documenting people and places throughout the state, from Key West to Apalachicola, although most of the items are from the Central Florida area.
