Biographical/Historical:     J. T. "Jake" Glisson (1927-2019) was an author, artist, and illustrator. His books include The Creek, a memoir of growing up in the Cross Creek community of central Florida with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings as his neighbor and friend.

Summary:     This collection contains three video cassette tapes recorded from public television programming relating to the Cross Creek environment and community. The programs include segments in which J. T. Glisson discusses Cross Creek history, environment, and people.

    "Vanishing Florida" (1989, 55 minutes, MPBT Public TV, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale) discusses growth and change in Florida since the 1950s and 1960s, focusing on loss of architectural treasures. It includes three brief segments with Glisson discussing changes in Cross Creek and around Florida as well as other segments relating to Cedar Key, Tarpon Springs, Wakulla Springs, St. Augustine, St. Petersburg, Pensacola, Ormond Beach, Miami Beach, and Apalachicola.

    "Five Live - Dr. Michael Gannon" (ca. 1980s, 25 minutes) is Dr. Gannon's interview with Glisson discussing Glisson's childhood, his friendship with and memories of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and the natural surroundings of Cross Creek. This videotape also includes brief segments from three other programs: a feature on Glisson and efforts to preserve Cross Creek from development, views of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' house on Cross Creek, and Glisson unveiling a new Tournament Players Association (tennis) championship trophy.

    "Florida Crossroads - Episode #705 - The Cross Creek Crisis" (1994, 28 minutes, Florida Public Television) features host John Thomas and discussion of the impact of drought, low water levels, and the spread of hydrilla on the local fishing industry, economy, and environment.
