Biographical/Historical:     Florida's state militia has existed since territorial days, but the 1885 Constitution allowed for a stronger, better-funded, and better-organized state militia. In 1887, the Florida State Troops organized under the leadership of Adjutant General David Lang. By the end of the 19th-century, the Florida State Troops consisted of 20 companies organized into battalions instead of regiments. The Florida State Troops became the Florida National Guard in 1909.
Summary:     This series consists of a single volume containing the orders of the company commander of Company H, Second Florida Infantry, Florida State Troops. These orders are administrative in nature.
