The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Tallahassee Optimist Club formed in 1949. As a member of the larger Optimist International Foundation, the Tallahassee club supported many local charities and activities, conducted yearly oration competitions, and held a yearly celebration and awards ceremony for local law enforcement officers and outstanding citizens. In September 2010, the club dissolved, but it relaunched after a year and later dissolved again. On 30 March 2015, the group re-chartered as Capital City Optimist Club and remains active.
Summary:     This collection includes yearly budget information, programs, awards, photographs, and local and national newsletters documenting the organization and activities of the Tallahassee Optimist Club. The collection also contains correspondence, yearly budget estimates, organizational publications, and stationery. Records prior to 1988 are sparse because the organization did not have a proper office at the time.
