The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     Richard Lynn "Rick" Scott, the 45th Governor of Florida, began his gubernatorial term on January 4, 2011. Born on December 1, 1952 in Bloomington, Illinois and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Scott served in the United States Navy for 29 months on the USS Glover as a radar technician. Scott later graduated from the University of Missouri - Kansas City with a bachelor's degree in business administration and earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University. His work experience includes partner at Johnson & Swanson in Dallas and leading Columbia Hospital Corporation until 1997 when he became a private investor in health care facilities. In April 2010, Scott announced his candidacy for the 2010 Republican Party nomination for Governor of Florida.

Summary:     The collection consists of materials relating to the planning of the 2011 inauguration of Governor Rick Scott. The records include correspondence, memoranda, charts, programs, and post action reports. Most of the material appears to have been generated by the incoming governor's appointed committee for the events held on January 3-4, 2011. The collection also includes banners created and displayed at various inaugural events and proposed layout storyboards for each of the events.
