Biographical/Historical:     In 1995, the Broadfoot Publishing Company published the Biographical Rosters of Florida's Confederate and Union Soldiers, a six-volume series compiled by David Hartman and David Coles. The series contains regimental histories and information on Florida's Civil War soldiers from 1861 to 1865.

Summary:     This collection contains correspondence and research materials sent to David W. Hartman from descendants of Florida's Confederate and Union veterans. The correspondence generally discusses the name of the ancestor, date of service, rank, name of units, birth and death dates, and if the ancestor was wounded or a prisoner of war.

    Some of the correspondence includes more background information on the individuals, such as compiled service records, pension records, diaries, family histories, local histories, family group sheets, lineage charts, newspaper clippings, and magazine articles. Some of the magazine articles provide information on military operations or information on various Confederate military units.
