The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical: ****DEACCESSIONED****
    The Division of Historical Resources was created in 1986 (Ch. 86-183, Laws), assuming some of the functions of the Division of Archives, History, and Records Management.  The Division is mandated to preserve and protect Florida's history.  The Division includes the Bureau of Historic Preservation, the Bureau of Archaeological Research, the Museum of Florida History, and the Florida Folklife programs.  The Bureaus of Historic Preservation and Archaeological Research assist in protecting and documenting the state's historic buildings, properties, and archaeological sites.  The Museum of Florida History preserves, exhibits, and interprets, while Florida Folklife is preserved by various programs throughout the state.

    This series contains exploration and salvage contract files of underwater historic sites on microfilm from the Underwater Archaeology Program of the Bureau of Archaeological Research.  The records consists of contracts, agreements, administrative files, field data, photographs, maps, magnetometer charts, site plans, and legal rulings and copies of court records.  These materials are used in evaluating applications for exploration and salvage by private firms and for historical research, as well as for investigating competition and breach of contract by various salvage companies.
