The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In January 1993, Governor Chiles created the 40 member Florida Greenways Commission, a group dedicated to creating a statewide "network of green" that would benefit Florida's citizens, native wild life and the environment; and to developing recommendations for protecting, enhancing and managing a statewide system of greenways through coordinated public and private efforts (Executive Order Number 93-40).  In 1995, the Florida Legislature created the Florida Greenways Coordinating Council to assume the role of coordinating, educating and providing leadership for greenway efforts, and named the Department of Environmental Protection as the lead agency to create the statewide system of greenways.
Summary:     This series documents the activities of the Florida Greenways Commission and contains reports, memoranda, budget expenditures, minutes, strategic plans, and correspondence.
