The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     VISIT FLORIDA is Florida's tourism marketing agency.  VISIT FLORIDA is not a government agency, but the operating company of the Florida Commission on Tourism, a private/public partnership made up of top state government officials and representatives of the Florida tourism industry.  Created by the Florida legislature in 1996 as the Florida Tourism Industry Marketing Corporation (s. 288.1226, F.S.), VISIT FLORIDA receives both state and private sector funding.  VISIT FLORIDA operates under a contract with the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development (OTTED).  The authorizing statute directs that "The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development shall annually certify whether the Corporation is operating in a manner and achieving the objectives that are consistent with the policies and goals of the commission and its long-range Marketing plan" (s. 288.1226(6), F.S.).

Summary:     This series documents programs and activities of Visit Florida.  Included are quarterly  reports from 1996-2000, materials pertaining to streamlining of business permitting in Florida, presentation information, and a strategic plan for tourism.
