Biographical/Historical:     After the death of Florida Governor Dan McCarty in 1955, an order of succession crisis surfaced which exposed ambiguities in the Florida Constitution.  As a result, the Florida Legislature established the Florida Constitution Advisory Commission in 1955 to examine these ambiguities.  The Commission prepared and presented to the Florida Legislature its recommendations on essential changes to the Florida Constitution.  These recommendations were approved and adopted by the Florida Legislature in 1956.  The Florida Supreme Court nullified the revisions based on technical problems.
Summary:     This series contains the minutes of three meetings of the Florida Constitution Advisory Commission documenting the Commission's discussion of recommendations to the Florida Legislature on what portions of the Florida Constitution the Commission determined needed to be changed.
