The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     After the death of Florida Governor Dan McCarty in 1955, an order of succession crisis surfaced which exposed ambiguities in the Florida Constitution.  As a result, the Florida Legislature established the Florida Constitution Advisory Commission in 1955 to examine these ambiguities.  The Commission prepared and presented to the Florida Legislature its recommendations on essential changes to the Florida Constitution.  These recommendations were approved and adopted by the Florida Legislature in 1956.  The Florida Supreme Court nullified the revisions based on technical problems.
Summary:     This series contains reports created by the Florida Constitution Advisory Commission documenting the Commission's recommendations to the Florida Legislature on what portions of the Florida Constitution the Commission determined the Legislature needed to change.
