Biographical/Historical:     John Gabriel Kellum (1871-1964) worked as a school teacher, principal, and administrator in several Florida schools in the north central region. His last teaching assignment was at Gainesville High School in 1905. He was elected assistant chief clerk of the House of Representatives in 1901 and head clerk in 1905. In 1905, he was also selected to be the Secretary of the Florida Board of Control, the predecessor of the Florida Board of Regents.

Summary:     This collection contains photographs of Florida buildings and people, including several school houses in Alachua County of which John G. Kellum was principal. These school houses include Alachua School, Chandler School, and Melrose School. Other photographs include the first Home Demonstration Club exhibit in Leon County in 1912,  an aerial view of Key West from the 1930s that shows the Naval Station and the La Concha Hotel, an aerial view of Fort Pierce (St. Lucie County) that shows businesses and houses, several images of unidentified people in front of their residences, and three photos of the Magnolia Hotel. Also included are two panoramic prints: one depicts an unidentified military training institute with cadets in formation, the other is a group photo of members of the State Bankers' Association of Florida in Miami in April 1921.
