Biographical/Historical:     Ray Allen McMahan was born in South Lake Weir, Florida, on October 13, 1887. He registered for the draft during World War I. During the early part of the twentieth century, McMahan was the supervisor of the Dade City Railroad station for the Southern Express Company founded by Henry Plant. Henry Plant built several railroads linked with large luxury hotels to attract rich northerners to Florida and encourage an economic boom in Florida before the Great Depression of the 1930s.
Summary:     This collection contains photographs of the Dade City Railroad station on the Southern Express Company railroad. One image depicts Black and white men standing over a train wreckage.
