Biographical/Historical:     From the 1880s until the early twentieth century, major railway and steamboat companies produced souvenir booklets as memorabilia and advertising.

Summary:     This collection contains four souvenir books with illustrations and photographs from around the state of Florida. Two of the books are promotional materials for the Florida East Coast Railway and they contain photographs of St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Ormond-by-the Sea, Titusville, Rockledge, Eau Gallie, Melbourne, Lake Worth, Indian River, and Biscayne Bay.

    One book, titled "Florida The Land of Sunshine," contains photographs of St. Augustine, Palm Beach, Daytona and Rockledge. The fourth book is a promotional booklet for the Hunter Land Company, titled "The Heart of the Kissimmee Prairie." It contains a photographic representation of how to turn a plot of land into a truck farm, along with photographs of successful crops grown in that area's soil type. The last photograph in the booklet shows the progress of a railroad bridge under construction across the St. Johns River.
