Biographical/Historical:     In 1998, the Senate Committee on Fiscal Resources (1998-2000) was created from the Senate Committee on Finance and Taxation.  In 1980, the Senate Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Claims (1980-1997) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  The Committee reviewed legislation which substantially affected taxes, tax structure, revenue, fees, exemptions, and considered all claims or relief bills.  This Committee had previously been established from 1976 to 1978.  Prior to 1976 and from 1978 to 1980, the Committee's functions were handled by the Senate Committee on Ways and Means. In 1998 it was renamed the Fiscal Resources Committee and in 2001 it was renamed Finance and Taxation.
Summary:     This series contains audiotaped recordings of the Senate Committee on Fiscal Resources.  The tapes document the committee and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on legislation pertaining to taxation, the tax structure, revenue, fees, and exemptions.  The tapes are not transcribed or indexed.
