The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Architectural Review Board was created in 1970 along with the Historic Tallahassee Preservation Board (Ch. 70-335, Laws).  Following the dissolution of the HTPB in 1997 (Ch. 97-68, Laws), the Tallahassee Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc. assumed responsibility for the review board.  The primary function of the agency is to review proposed construction, alterations, site improvements, and demolition in areas zoned as historical and cultural conservation districts.  After Tallahassee became a Certified Local Government in 1987, the responsibilities of the ARB expanded to include review of proposed nominations to the National Register of Historic Places.
    The Architectural Review Board is composed of a  ten-member panel which includes the chairman of the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Commission, the director of the Planning Department, four representatives appointed by the Tallahassee City Commission, and four appointed from the Leon County Commission.  At least three members must be  residents of Leon County and two representatives must be certified by the American Institute of Architects.
Summary:     This series contains audiotaped minutes of the Tallahassee-Leon County Architectural Review Board.  Subjects addressed during the meetings include review of city/county zoning laws, voting on downtown Tallahassee store-front reconstruction, reports of previous months activities, along with various discussions concerning funding for several building projects within the city and county.
