Biographical/Historical:     The Tallahassee Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc. began as a not-for-profit organization in 1997. The trust initially existed as the direct support organization for the Historic Tallahassee Preservation Board (HTPB), established in 1988 (Chapter 88-43, Laws of Florida). After the legislature dissolved the HTPB in May 1997 (Ch. 97-68, Laws), the trust continued as a private agency committed to identifying, evaluating, protecting, and interpreting historic resources in Tallahassee and Leon County. The trust also contributes professional historic preservation assistance to local governments in areas such as growth management, economic development, community revitalization, and planning. The group provides staff for the Tallahassee/Leon County Architectural Review Board and promotes programs designed to increase awareness of heritage tourism and education.
Summary:     This collection contains audiotaped meeting minutes documenting the monthly activities of the Tallahassee Trust for Historic Preservation as its members address local issues related to historic site preservation, building restoration projects, grant funding for future endeavors, and current government issues and legislation influencing historic administration.
