Summary:
This series contains oversize maps, plans, drawings, and aerial photographs collected by the Historic Tallahassee Preservation Board to support its efforts to document and preserve historic sites and properties in Tallahassee and Leon County. Subjects include the Old Capitol, the Union Bank, historic neighborhoods and historic houses. Approximately half of the items deal with the demolition, restoration, and rebuilding of the 1902 "Old Capitol" and with the preservation and restoration of the Union Bank. This includes the Final Restoration Plans for the Old Capitol as well as the various demolition plans and drawings.
Many of the maps document the changes which have taken place in Tallahassee and Leon County over the previous 150 years. Of particular interest are maps of the various plantations and large landowners in Leon County, such as Southwood and Luna. Also included are plans and drawings for various historic houses in downtown Tallahassee, including the Tabb House, Walker Martin House, and the Governor Martin Estate.
