In 2000, the Agency for Workforce Innovation was formed by merging the Division of Workforce and Employment Opportunities and the Division of Unemployment Compensation (Ch. 2000-165, Laws).  Funding was stopped on activities and programs not transferred to new agencies and the Department of Labor ceased functioning on July 1, 2002.

The Diversity Council was formed on February 6, 1995 by Secretary of Labor Douglas Jamerson.  It consisted of fifteen members selected from all levels within the Department and from each of its Divisions.
