	Biographical/Historical:	On January 5, 1891, the Georgia and Florida Investment Company of New York and Paisley, Scotland, founded the Carrabelle, Tallahassee, and Georgia Railroad Company to build a railroad from Carrabelle on the Gulf of Mexico northward through Tallahassee to Thomasville, Georgia. The company purchased the rights, franchises, and property of the Augusta, Tallahassee, and Gulf Railroad, a corporation organized several years before for a similar purpose that failed to complete the railroad. The Carrabelle, Tallahassee and Georgia Railroad Company also established contracts for the transportation of 100,000 feet of timber daily for a period of years.
	Summary:	This collection contains correspondence, memoranda, and reports of the Carrabelle, Tallahassee, and Georgia Railroad Company. These records document the expansion of the railroad system in the Tallahassee and Carrabelle areas and reflect the problems that this company faced in establishing the railroad as well as their development of other businesses in the area, including lumber and fishing businesses.
