The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. 	Biographical/Historical:	Pursuant to Chapters 119 and 257, Florida Statutes, the Division of Library and Information Services director's office is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the statewide program of library services, library services development and public records management. Within the Florida Department of State, the Division provides technical and educational assistance, financial aid, and cooperative services. The Division Director also serves as Secretary to the Library Council and Deputy Interstate Library Compact Administrator.
	Summary:	This series contains subject files maintained by the Division Director to document state library policy and administration. Among the records are advisory committee reports, collection development reports, State Library staff meeting agenda and annual reports, as well as various files concerning national library trends and policies. Included is a report from a task force sponsored by the Council of Academic Vice Presidents concerning state university library funding. Additionally there are copies of many nationally publicized articles written throughout the 1990s by state library staff as well as several American Library Association advisory committee reports authored by Division Director Barratt Wilkins. There is also information on state library automation, the state library statistical project, and the White House Conference on Libraries and Information Services. Also included are correspondence files, speeches, press releases and emails related to Governor Jeb Bush's proposed 2003 reorganization of the Division of Library and Information Services functions; relocation of Department of State and Division of Library and Information Services office spaces; and the proposed transfer/relocation of the State Library of Florida's circulation collection to Nova Southeastern University.
