Summary:     This series contains two volumes that serve as indexes to the Domestic Articles of Incorporation from 1870 to 1914.  Series 186 contains the actual Domestic Articles.  The scheme of indexing lists the articles and the number assigned to them by the Department of State.  In some cases the articles were copied into the volumes of Series 186 and the volume letter is noted.  In the cases where articles do not have a volume noted they are filed numerically in the three boxes at the beginning of Series 186.
