Biographical/Historical:     In 1965, the Florida Legislature passed a resolution (Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 1316) creating the Florida Youth Advisory Council, and thus resurrected a body organized in 1956 under the Governor's Office.  The Governor's Youth Advisory Council had been dissolved because of a lack of financial and moral support.  By the new resolution, however, the Council was organized under the office of the Secretary of State and so gained a degree of continuity not possible under the Governor.  The Council was probably abolished in 1969 when the Division of Youth Services was created.
Summary:     The series contains the records of the Florida Youth Advisory Council from 1967 to 1969.  Types of records include correspondence, programs, agenda, newspaper clippings, press releases, minutes, and photographs.  Issues concerning teenage youth are covered in the records, including narcotics and drugs, venereal diseases, juvenile delinquency, school dropout, and youth employment.
