The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Summary:     This series consists of the administrative files of the Secretary of State from 1962 to 1980.  The series includes audit and budget reports from the Secretary of State's Office (1962-1970), and subject files from Secretaries Richard Stone (1969-1971), Bruce Smathers (1974-1977), and George Firestone (1977-1980).  The subject files consist of correspondence, reports, and a small amount of cabinet material.
    A wide variety of subjects and issues are covered, including library services, the state fine arts council, state theater, historic preservation boards, and other functions of the Dept. of State.  A "clemency reading file" contains correspondence from around the world, most of which begs for the commutations of death sentences to ten men on death row in 1979.  Another subject which generated many letters and petitions was legislation concerning tie-in sales of recreation leases in 1977.
