Biographical/Historical:     The Mansion Advisory Committee was created in 1955 by Governor LeRoy Collins to advise on the furnishing of the new Mansion.  In 1957, the Committee was dissolved, and the Governor's Mansion Commission was created (Chapter 57-61, Laws).  The Commission is concerned with policies on the use of the Mansion, fund raising, and the solicitation and acknowledgement of gifts.  It was placed under the Dept. of General Services in 1969 (Chapter 69-106, Laws).
Summary:     The series consists of the minutes of the meetings of the Mansion Advisory Committee and the subsequent Governor's Mansion Commission from 1955 to 1982.  The minutes document topics of discussion, decisions made, and actions taken by the Committee and the Commission.  Also included are a brief history of the Mansion Advisory Committee and an index of furnishings.
