Biographical/Historical:     When the United States entered World War II in 1942, the government anticipated shortages of essential war materials and the U.S. Office of Price Administration produced a series of ration books that it issued to every citizen. Ration Book 4 was the last in the series, distributed in late 1943. It contained sheets of stamps printed in red, blue, and green that corresponded to types of food products (e.g. meat, butter, processed foods).

Summary:     This collection contains three World war II ration books titled "War Ration Book Four." The books belonged to Dale Lawrence Canfield, Elaine R. Canfield, and Herbert H. Canfield of Rockledge, Florida.
