Summary:     This item is one of only four known daguerreotype images of Florida. This extremely rare, early Florida image shows Key West in approximately 1849 or 1850, possibly photographed from a tower in the Front Street/Simonton Street area. It includes a view of the First Baptist Church (church tower visible in upper left) and St. Paul's Episcopal Church (to the right of First Baptist Church), both of which are still standing.
