Biographical/Historical:     Miles Blake (1786-1840) was a pioneer settler and enslaver in Leon County, Florida. Born in North Carolina, Blake moved to Leon County in 1826 and established Blakely Plantation, a 900-acre forced-labor farm. Blake was also one of the area's earliest merchants, operating a general store in Tallahassee.
Summary:     This collection contains a ledger documenting the business activities of Miles Blake in Tallahassee, Florida. The information is in the form of account entries enumerating the types, quantity, and cost of  goods purchased, as well as the debits and credits owed and paid by Blake's patrons.
