	Biographical/Historical:	The Camp Roosevelt Project was an adult education extension program jointly operated in Ocala, Florida, by the University of Florida and the Works Progress Administration. Its location had formerly been a United States Corps of Engineer Camp. The University of Florida was primarily responsible for project administration, "establish[ing] all educational policies and all rules for the conduct of faculty, students, clerical assistants and others engaged on the project." The Works Progress Administration provided a business manager and assistants to control the camp's finances. The Camp Roosevelt Project offered classes in a wide variety of subjects, some of which were art, art appreciation, drama, English, history, aviation, journalism, meteorology, photography, relief model construction, stenography, speech, radio, woodworking, leatherworking, and weaving. In addition, the camp hosted various conferences for public and private officials. Supposedly, at one point, the University of Florida employed camp-trained stenographers and clerks. The project began in 1936. It is unclear when the project closed, although the last piece of correspondence dates from 1942.

The photographs include views of buildings at Camp Roosevelt, as well as classroom or workroom scenes of students and their activities. Also included are many photographs of the University of Florida campus and of architectural models of the school made at the camp.
