Biographical/Historical:     Robert (Bobby) Brantley was born in Atmore, Alabama, on April 6, 1948.  He was elected Lieutenant Governor in 1986 in tandem with Governor Bob Martinez.  He was Florida's first elected Republican Lieutenant Governor since Reconstruction.  Governor Martinez assigned the Lieutenant Governor as Secretary of Dept. of Commerce beginning in September 1988.  When Floridians voted to establish a lottery, the Lieutenant Governor was given the responsibility of creating the new department as the first Secretary of the Florida Lottery.  He served until a permanent Secretary was recruited.
Summary:     This series contains the administrative files of Lt. Governor Bobby Brantley from 1986 to 1990.  The files reflect his duties as Lt. Governor, Secretary of the Dept. of Commerce, and Secretary of the Dept. of the Lottery.  The records include correspondence, accepted invitations, and daily schedules.
