Biographical/Historical:     William Usher Norwood served as supervisory freight and passenger agent for the Seaboard Coast Line and the Georgia, Florida and Alabama Railroads for 34 years. After his retirement in 1957, he worked for the office of the Sergeant at Arms for the Florida House of Representatives for ten years. Norwood was born in 1890 at Oak Hill in Brevard County and moved to Tallahassee in 1923, where he lived the rest of his life. He died on May 9, 1974.

Summary:     The collection contains a scrapbook with items that document the history of the Seaboard Coast Line in Tallahassee and the Southeast. Types of materials include newspaper clippings, dispatches to and from the Tallahassee office, a Tallahassee Railroad Company bond for three dollars, timetables, the by-laws of the Seaboard Airline Freight Agents' Association, photographs and postcards. Also included are some articles pertaining to the St. Marks Railroad and railroading at Silver Springs in Marion County, as well as the January 14, 1854 edition of the New York Daily Tribune.
