Biographical/Historical:       Longwood is a small city in Seminole County, Florida, established in the 1870s. In the early 20th century, a promotional brochure for Longwood described it as "an incorporated town and is situated on the Atlantic Coast Line Railway, in Seminole County, Florida, 125 miles South of Jacksonville, 10 miles South of Sanford, the County seat of Seminole County and 12 miles North of Orlando, the County seat of Orange County." The town touted itself for its convenient location on the Dixie Highway, which connected Jacksonville and Tampa.

Summary:         This collection contains promotional materials for Longwood, printed in the early 20th century. The materials include photographs reproduced from the brochure as well as a copy of the brochure itself. To promote tourism and encourage growth, the brochure highlighted the area's high rolling pine land dotted with numerous lakes and two Sulphur springs, which offered many opportunities for hunting and fishing. The brochure also advertises a modern hotel with all the amenities, cottages and farms.
