Biographical/Historical:     John Wayne Mixson was the twelfth Lieutenant Governor to serve Florida.  After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Mixson returned to the business of agriculture.  Mixson was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1967.  Mixson served five terms in the House. In 1978 Mixson accepted Senator D. Robert Graham's invitation to run as his Lieutenant Governor.  During his second term Mixson also served as the Secretary of the Dept. of Commerce.
Summary:     This series contains Lt. Governor Wayne Mixson's subject files from 1979 to 1986.  Among the records included are general correspondence, project files, and general office files which pertain to both Mixson's service as Lt. Governor and as Secretary of the Dept. of Commerce.
