Biographical/Historical:     The Bonheur Development Company was chartered in October 1915 to prospect for "minerals of every kind and nature whatsoever." B. M. Cates, R. O. Collins, Charles Williams, and A. A. Burns applied for the original charter. Operating out of Tallahassee, the company drilled for oil in Wakulla and Jefferson counties. The company drilled two wells before it dissolved in 1922.
Summary:     This collection contains business records for the Bonheur Development Company and its operations in Wakulla and Jefferson Counties. It contains some correspondence, drill logs and semi-daily drilling reports. A bound "Corporation Record" contains the company charter and by-laws; meeting minutes; a register of original stock certificates issued, re-issued and cancelled; and a record of well samples.
