Biographical/Historical:     Hamilton County was created by act of the Legislative Council on December 26, 1827.  Hamilton County was originally a part of Jefferson County.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     This series consists of a microfilm copy of the state census record for Hamilton County, Florida from 1880.  A census is a count of persons and their property, usually for taxation purposes.  A census may also be referred to as a population schedule.  The census gives the name of the head of household and the number, age, and sex of other members of the household.
