Biographical/Historical:     Calhoun County was created by an act of the Legislative Council on January 26, 1838.  Originally part of Washington and Jackson counties, Calhoun underwent several boundary changes until 1925. The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     This series consists of a microfilm copy of the chancery order book of Calhoun County, Florida from 1906 to 1925.  Chancery or equity are terms used to describe one type of court proceedings pertaining to impartial justice between two parties which claims conflict.  In chancery cases a person seeks to compel someone to do something or to stop doing or refrain from doing something. Chancery courts handle divorces, foreclosures of liens, receiverships, partitions, trusts, and real property controversies, etc.  Both volumes contain an index.
