Biographical/Historical:     Union County was created by an act of the State Legislature in 1921 (Ch. 8516, Laws).  It was formed from the western portion of Bradford County.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     This series consists of a microfilm copy of the deed records of Union County, Florida, from 1866 to 1921.  The documents include grantee and grantor indexes to deeds (1866-1921) and deed record books (1866-1887).  At the time these records were created, the lands in question were located in Bradford County.  With the organization of Union County in 1921, the deeds were transcribed from Bradford County record books and maintained by the Union County Clerk of Court.
    In the broadest sense, a deed (or conveyance) is a legal instrument by which real property is transferred from one party to another.  Deed books contain many types of title conveyances and contracts.  Among the most common types are warranty deeds, quitclaim deeds, and deeds of gift.
