Biographical/Historical:     Okeechobee County was created by an act of the Florida Legislature on May 8, 1917 (Chap. 7401, Laws).  It was formed from portions of Osceola, St. Lucie and Palm Beach Counties.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     This series consists of a microfilm copy of the marriage records for Okeechobee County, Florida from 1917 to 1955.
    Marriage record books consist of the recorded copies of marriage licenses.  They document when a couple applied for the marriage license, when they were married, and who performed the ceremony. Record books one, two and three are indexed by the grooms' name only.  Book four is indexed by the brides' and grooms' names.
