Biographical/Historical:     Okaloosa County was created in 1915 by an act of the State Legislature (Ch. 6937, Laws).  It was formed from the eastern portion of Santa Rosa County and the western portion of Walton County.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     This series consists of a microfilm copy of a will book from Okaloosa County, Florida, from 1916 to 1936.  A will is a legal instrument by which people declare how they wish their propertyor estate to be disposed of after their death.  Wills usually contain direct statements of the relationships between the deceased and his family and denote ownership of specific property and goods.  The volume contains copies of wills as well as petitions and orders to admit wills to the probate court.  The records are indexed.
