Summary:     The series consists of a microfilm copy of the marriage records of Hardee County, Florida from 1921 to 1963.  The series includes indexes to marriage records (1921-1963), record books (1921-1957), affidavits for marriage licenses (1921-1927), and applications for marriage licenses (1927-1950). The record books document when the couple applied for the marriage license, when they were married, and who performed the ceremony.
Affidavits for marriage licenses state the couples age at the time of application.  If either of the couple were underage, the affidavits contains the parent or guardians consent for the marriage to take place.  From 1921 to 1927 every couple filled out an affidavit which was filed separately from the licenses.  Ater 1927 the affidavit was incorporated into the application for marriage license.
Applications for marriage license document the applicants' names, age, race, birthplace, occupation, and whether either of the applicants had previously been married.  Applications sometimes included affidavits and once completed were often used as the marriage license, containing the date of the wedding and who performed the ceremony.
The indexes gives the page number for record books and the application (or C.J.) number for affidavits and applications for marriage license.
