	Biographical/Historical:	******** D E A C C E S S I O N E D ******** Brevard County was created by an act (Ch. 651, Laws) of the State Legislature on January 6, 1854. Originally named St. Lucie County, Brevard underwent one additional boundary change in 1905 (CH.5567, Laws). The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
	Summary:	******** D E A C C E S S I O N E D ******** The series consists of a microfilm copy of the delayed birth certificates of Brevard County, Florida from 1943 to 1975. The delayed birth certificate is a record that registers a birth after the fact and is usually issued by a place of later residence rather than the place of birth. The certificate provides such information as applicant's name, date of birth, and place of birth as well as the same information for the applicant's parents. The information contained in the application can be supported by family, school, and insurance records or by affidavit of persons with definite knowledge of the facts. The certificates in the series are contained in files that also include the petition for delayed birth certificate and may include supporting documents.
