Biographical/Historical:     In 1979, Governor Graham declared a statewide energy emergency and delegated energy conservation powers to county governments (Executive Orders 79-41 and 79-42).  The Emergency Management Division of the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners served as the County's Fuel Allocation Office.
Summary:     The series contains the emergency energy conservation records from 1974 to 1984 maintained by the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida.  It documents the emergency energy conservation measures carried out in Palm Beach County.  The records include applications for fuel allocation, approved and unapproved; Governor's Energy Office correspondence; inter-office correspondence; Florida's Energy Emergency Contingency Plan; documents relating to the County Energy Emergency Panel and the South Florida Area Energy Emergency Fuel Council.  There is also background information material on topics such as the energy crisis of 1973-1974, fuel alternatives, and programs conducted by other agencies.
