Biographical/Historical:     North Miami, Florida is located in Dade County in south Florida.  It originally was incorporated as the Town of Miami Shores in 1926, but the name was changed to the Town of North Miami in 1931 (Ch. 15823, Laws).  It became the City of North Miami in September, 1952 and its charter was approved by the legislature in 1953 (Ch. 29318, Laws).  It has a Council-Manager form of municipal government.
Summary:     This collection contains the minutes of the Council meetings from 1926 to 1973 of the City of North Miami and its predecessors, the Towns of North Miami and Miami Shores.  The records, which document tremendous growth in the area, cover both City and Town Council meetings.  The minutes reflect the topics of discussion, decisions made, and actions taken by the governing bodies.
