Biographical/Historical:     North Miami, Florida is located in Dade County in south Florida.  It originally was incorporated as the Town of Miami Shores in 1926, but the name was changed to the Town of North Miami in 1931 (Ch. 15823, Laws).  It became chartered as the City of North Miami in 1953 (Ch. 29318, Laws).  The City Tax Assessor's Office was responsible for collection of property appraisals for the tax assessment of real estate.  In 1966, Dade County assumed responsibility for maintaining the building records.
Summary:     This series contains the building records from 1950 to 1966 maintained by the City Tax Assessor's Office of North Miami, Florida.  The records consist of handwritten cards detailing individual buildings.  The cards describe the building, its use, and type of construction.  The documents contain diagrams of structures and explain every part of the building such as foundation, exterior walls, roof, plumbing, heating, and electricity.  Other information includes the year of owner or tenant occupancy, building permits, and market value.
