Biographical/Historical:     Lee County, established in 1887, is in southwest Florida along the Gulf of Mexico and includes the Fort Myers metropolitan area. The County Tax Assessor's Office is responsible for the assessment of property for the collection of taxes for Lee County.
Summary:     This series contains correspondence files from 1887 to 1889 maintained by the County Tax Assessor's Office in Lee County, Florida.  The records include incoming correspondence concerning individual property taxes in Lee County.  One folder contains miscellaneous tax records which primarily deal with land owned by large companies.
