Daniel Robert "Bob" Graham was the thirty-eighth Governor of Florida, serving two terms from January 2, 1979 to January 3, 1987. Graham was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1966 and then to the state Senate in 1970. The International Policy Advisor assisted Governor Graham and communicated with state, regional, and federal agencies on issues that pertained to Florida's political, commercial, and educational affairs abroad. The International Policy Advisor handled requests for visas and political asylum, corresponded with national and international organizations, and distributed information regarding commerce with South Africa, France, Japan, China, the Caribbean, Cuba, Nicaragua, Brazil, and other parts of South America.
