The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Interim Committee on Local Government Efficiency and Organization was created (Ch. 67-467) in 1967.  The committee was directed to study all aspects of counties, school districts, special tax districts, and municapalities with emphasis placed on efficiency and cost of government.  The committee was also to address consolidation of overlapping jurisdiction and duplicating costs and the interrelations between local, state, and federal government with an emphasis on better use of funds.  The committee was abolished after reporting its finding to the legislature in 1968.
Summary:     This series documents the committee's investigation into the efficiency of local government. In assessing local government, the committee often interacted with the Florida League of Municipalities and the Subcommittee of Government Organization of the Interim Committee on Urban Affairs. The records include minutes, agenda, memoranda, correspondence, proposed legislation and reports.
