The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1970, the House Committee on Community Affairs (1970-2000) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. The Committee reviewed legislation on local governments and intergovernmental relations; building codes and standards; housing; emergency preparedness; handicapped accessibility; veterans and military affairs; community development; comprehensive and regional planning; and growth management. Some of its functions have previously been handled by other House committees:  Local Government (1969-1970); Veterans Affairs (1978-1984); Housing (1986-1988); and Veterans and Military Affairs and Emergency Preparedness (1987-1990).
Summary:     This series contains the records of the House Committee on Community Affairs (1972-2000) and the Committee on Local Government (1969-1970). The records include bill files, meeting files, correspondence, and subject files. Records document legislation on local governments and intergovernmental relations; building codes and standards; housing; emergency preparedness; handicapped accessibility; veterans and military affairs; community development; comprehensive and regional planning; and growth management.
