The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1970, the Senate Committee on Universities and Community Colleges (1970-1973) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  The committee reviewed legislation on community colleges, universities, and higher education.  The Committee was abolished and its functions returned to the Senate Committee on Education in 1973, which previously had handled all levels of education (1968-1970).
Summary:     This series contains the audiotaped recordings of the Senate Committee on Universities and Community Colleges from 1970 to 1972. The tapes document committee and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on postsecondary education, including community colleges; colleges and universities (private and public); and post-graduate schools.  The tapes are not transcribed or indexed.
